ATV Tours - The Big Island is the original site of the very first 4 wheel ATV tours in the state.

Dinner Cruises Dinner and Sunset Cruises - These boats off the Big Island have been known for years as the spot to "party your sandals off."

Dining - Kailua-Kona is a small town with dozens of very good restaurants to meet most tastes and budgets. You can, of course, prepare a gourmet meal in the kitchen, a barbeque on the grill just downstairs, or just fix yourself a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. Some groceries in Hawaii are usually substantially more expensive than on the mainland; expect prices that are 50% to 100% over what you're used to paying. There are three grocery stores in Kona, including a Safeway (bring your Safeway Club card or pick one up in the store for free; it's worth it!). The best grocery values are to be found at Costco, but you'll have to buy in quantity.

Diving - The Kona Coast in particular has been blessed with some of the calmest waters in Hawaii in both the morning and the afternoon allowing scuba companies to take charters out all day long.

Fishing - Perhaps the single most well-known and important activity on the Big Island is Sport Fishing or Deep Sea Fishing. The quality of the "big game" here is unparalleled anywhere in the world.

Golf Golf - The Big Island has some of the most well-known and beautiful golf courses in the world. Views from the courses of the ocean and the volcanoes are truly stunning. Many of the courses were designed by world-famous designers, including Robert Trent Jones.

Helicopter Rides Helicopter Flights - Within the past 20 years or so the only place on the planet that you could consistently see an active volcano has been on the island of Hawaii.

Hiking - The hiking Hawaii adventures include rainforest hikes, eco-tours, volcano tours, lava tube hikes, hikes through the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, waterfall hikes, Mauna Loa summit adventures, bird watching hikes, mule ride adventures, various wildlife hiking tours and a variety of nature walks, walking tours and sightseeing tours of the island.

Kayaking Kayaking - The most exciting locations for kayaking are to be found off the Kona coast of the Big Island. Here in the lee of the giant volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea the tranquil waters are crystal clear and teeming with sea life.

Land Tours - Take an all-day adventure to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (including Kilauea Volcano) and back, a remarkable 250-mile drive, traveling over 4 volcanoes, with an overall elevation change of 37,000 feet.

There are a number of different boats that offer offer morning and afternoon trips and one trip even offers "night snorkeling" to see the giant Manta Rays.

Stars Stargazing - The Onizuka Center for International Astronomy is located atop Mauna Kea, the spectacular volcano with a peak 13,796 feet (4205 meters) above sea level. Mauna Kea is actually the world's tallest mountain, rising 31,796 feet (9691 meters) from the ocean's floor. Although you can drive up to the visitor's center at 9,300 feet (2835 meters), you'll probably enjoy the trip more if you let Paradise Safaris take you from Kona all the way up to the top. You'll also have a guided stargazing session with telescope after the sun sets.

Sunsets - The Kona Coast of Hawaii is known for its spectacular sunsets. One is provided each day at no additional charge. If you're very lucky, you'll get to see a green flash as the sun dips below the horizon.

Whales - Unlike other locations in Hawaii, the Big Island is not only the seasonal home for the famous Humpback whales but is also home year round to a selection of Sperm whales, Pilot whales, Pygmy Killer whales, the Melon Headed whales and the rare Beaked whales.
